Sherry for Halloween

Hi wine friends…and Happy #WineWednesday!  Today, I’m sharing three Sherrys I received as samples — González Byass Alfonso Oloroso (SRP $25), Harveys Bristol Cream ($17), and one of my all-time favorites, the González Byass Nectar Ximénez ($24) — and some Halloween candy pairing.  All three Sherrys are from the Andalusia region of Spain and can be found for $30 or less.  Cheers!

Next week, I’ll be tasting the 2017 Prayers of Sinners, which is a red wine blend from Washington State.  In addition to your local wine shop, you can find it online at places like Wine.com, Total Wine & More, and Wine Chateau, and

Question of the Day:

  1. Are you a Sherry drinker?  If you are, do you gravitate towards the drier Sherry, the sweeter Sherry, or all of it?
  2. What are you Halloween candy and wine pairing go-to ideas?

Hi wine friends…and Happy #WineWednesday!  Today, I’m sharing the 2018 Terra di Seta Chianti Classico, which is a $20 kosher and organic red wine from Tuscany, Italy. I also had a chance to try out my new Star of David magnetic wine charms, which Simply Charmed sent me for free.  It will be part of their new Chanukkah set, although I used the two Jewish stars all through the Rosh Hashanah holiday.  Cheers!

Questions of the Day:

  • What kosher wines have you tried?  Do you have any favorites?
  • What about Chianti?  Do you have a favorite?

The Perfect Summer White Wine — 2018 Cantine Elvio Tintero Arneis

Hi wine friends…and Happy #WineWednesday! Today, I’m sharing the 2018 Cantine Elvio Tintero Arneis, which is imported by Kermit Lynch Wine Merchants, costs $16, and is white wine from Piedmont, Italy. Cheers! 🍷

I clearly was into this wine and the winery because I talk for a bit before digging into the tasting this week. So, if you want to skip over the background of the winery, I start tasting around 4:17.

If you’re local to the DMV, the halibut I mentioned is from our from Chesapeake Smokehouse. We discovered them through a friend during the pandemic, and they have been delivering us the best seafood we’ve ever had outside of a restaurant. (And yes, the Old Bay seasoned grilled halibut was delicious with this wine!)

You can find my Simply Charmed Magnetic Wine Charms here (all three came from the “Napa Valley” set of 6, which is $16).

You can find my govino wine glass, which is dishwasher-safe, shatterproof, reusable, and recyclable, here (this is an affiliate link).

Question of the Day: Is Arneis a new grape to you? If you’ve had one before, I’d love to know which one and what you thought.

Cheers! 🍷
