Fourth of July in DC is one of the best times of year. Sure, it’s hot and humid, but nothing compares to the excitement of being in the Nation’s Capitol on Independence Day. For years, I would join friends for a day of picnicking on the Capitol lawn before listening to the Capitol Fourth concert. After Hubby and I met, he would join me and we’d meet up with these friends together. Then we moved to a place where we could see the fireworks from the Capitol fireworks roof our building. What’s so exciting is that we not only see the fireworks display over the Washington Monument, but also about 50 other fireworks shows throughout Maryland and Virginia. The horizon is filled with explosions of sparkling colors, some closer than others, but all creating excitement for the entire crowd. That’s in addition to the numerous sparklers that everyone brings to the roof. So, now, the Fourth is celebrated with at home with our neighbors and a glass (or several glasses) of something delicious.
Mumm Napa Brut Prestige (winery, snooth) was a medium straw yellow with a lot of small, persistent bubbles. On the nose, there was a mixture of white flowers and yeast, followed by a touch of cream and lemon. In the mouth, there were limes, yeast, toast, and nectarines. The sparkler has a bright acidity and medium body
Is this worth a glass after work? It’s worth more than one! What are you waiting for? At $20, this sparkler is worth every penny. It’s complex, refreshing, and has a ridiculously long finish that lingers and keeps you begging for more. The wine was perfect for relaxing on the roof and watching the fireworks.
