Yesterday was one of those non-memorable days. It was ok, but nothing spectacular. There was work to do, but it never hit a frenetic pace. There were emails to answer and phone calls to make. I even made progress on my current project. But, when I came home and Hubby asked about my day, there was just nothing interesting to report. It was just a day. I think because the nature of my day job is to always have something exciting going on, it was actually disappointing to have “just a day.” So, to try and liven things up a little, I decided it was the perfect evening to open a little bubbly…for no real reason at all!
The Lucien Albrecht Brut Rosé Crémant d’Alsace (winery, snooth) is made with 100% Pinot Noir grapes and had a light orangey-pink color with rapid firing, tiny bubbles. On the nose, there was a light yeastiness mixed with cranberries, strawberries, and pomegranates. In the mouth, there were hints of oranges, strawberries, cranberries, and pomegranates mixed with a soft, creaminess. The sparkler had a bright acidity and light body.
Is this worth a glass after work? Definitely! If you see this wine in the store, grab it; you won’t be disappointed. At a SRP of $19, this bubbly is a steal! It’s beautifully balanced with subtle characteristics that give it all the finesse of an expensive sparkling wine without breaking the wallet. Clearly, I enjoyed this sparkling wine more than I did the last time I had it, and I wonder if part of it had to do with the crab cakes Hubby made me for dinner. The wine was delicious when I tasted it on its own, but the pairing with the crab cakes was perfection. After dinner, I continued to enjoy the bubbly with some trashy Tuesday night TV while making some more knitting progress on my cabled scarf.
