Happy New Year, a Reader Survey, & My 2014 Blogging Resolutions

Happy New Year, everyone!  Hubby and I just returned from two weeks in Italy, which is why I didn’t post sooner.  We spent all of our time in Rome and Florence, and what a great two weeks it was.  But, more on that later.

If you’re a regularly A Glass After Work reader, you know that 2013 was not my best year for blogging.  The year was actually a good one for Hubby and me, but my hip surgery in March made regular blogging difficult.  Not that I didn’t try earlier, but by the time I was really ready to get back into my blogging routine, it was Thanksgiving and the chaotic holiday season was upon me.

All that said, 2014 is here, and I’m ready to blog.  In fact, 2014 is going to be an exciting year for A Glass After Work, as February is my 5-year blogiversary!  A lot has changed since I started.  Through it all, though, I’ve had wonderful readers and blogger friends (not to mention a supportive husband) who helped make A Glass After Work what it is today.  And so, as I start thinking about what the next 5 years will look like for A Glass After Work, I wanted to ask YOU.  Please click here to take my 10 question survey.  It will help me to not only get a better sense of who my readers are, but also to figure out what you want to read about in my posts.  The survey should only take a couple of minutes, and it’s completely anonymous.  It will be live until January 26, and once it’s closed, I will share the survey results.

With that, I wanted to share my 2014 Blogging Resolutions with you.  In an attempt to avoid the overzealousness of my 2012 plans, while also giving myself a little more structure than my 2013 list, here’s what I have in mind for 2014:

  • Attend the 2014 Wine Bloggers Conference in Santa Barbara, CA.  Hubby and I talked about it…it’s on the calendar…. I haven’t registered yet, but I’m going.   The last WBC I attended was in 2011, and they are always such transformative experiences, not to mention the perfect way to taste new wines and make new blogger friends.  So, with 2014 being a big blog birthday for A Glass After Work, I don’t want to miss WBC14.
  • Blog 2 to 3 times a week.  I’ve changed my running schedule so that as I get back into doing longer runs, I will actually do them on Saturdays.  This will give me back my Sunday evening blog time.  Oh, how I’ve missed my Sunday evening blog time.
  • Expand my grape horizons (or at least have more grape diversity in my blogging).  There were several times this year where I found myself writing a post that said something along the lines of “I love XXX and I will order it in a restaurant, but for some reason, I don’t have many posts about it on the blog.”  Well, that has to change.

Question of the Day: Do you have any wine or blogging-related resolutions for 2014?

Here’s to a happy and healthy 2014!  Cheers–
Alleigh
