After a long, busy day, there is nothing quite like a great glass of wine or beer to help forget about work and settle into a relaxing evening. With that in mind, I started A Glass After Work as a wine enthusiast about to embark on my first class at the Washington Wine Academy. At the time, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to share my experiences with my friends and with other wine lovers. Since then, I not only completed my Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) Level 2 Intermediate Certificate in Wines and Spirits, but also my WSET Level 3 Advanced Certificate and a Certificate on Andalusia and its Wines through the Wine Academy of Spain. I am also a certified Spanish Wine Educator through the Wine Academy of Spain.
Somewhere along the way, I realized I was neglecting my love of other beverages in order to have wine to review for the blog. Therefore, in 2013, I expanded my focus to include my thoughts on beer and the occasional cocktail. While my beer knowledge is not nearly as in-depth as my wine knowledge and while wine posts still dominate, I’m enjoying sharing what I learn along the way.
I haven’t changed careers or quit my day job working on federal policy and legislation, but what started out as my taking wine course to further my interest has developed into deep passion for wine. And, ultimately, that’s what this blog is all about—an honest, straight-forward look at wine as I explore, learn about, and taste my way through “A Glass After Work.”
